Blacktop Outlaws privacy policy

Blacktop Outlaws is a motorbike racing and brawling game for Meta Quest. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics, no in-app purchases, no voice or text chat, and it never uses the microphone or cameras. We, SaneBits, do not collect or store any information about you. If you choose to brawl online, our relay passes race information between the riders while the brawl runs, as described below.
On your headset
Your career (your rider's name and colours, bikes, weapons, prize money and progress), your settings and your controls are saved in the game's own storage on your headset. So is a random number, your rider token, that brawls use as described below. None of it leaves the headset except as described under Brawl. Uninstalling the game deletes it.
Hand and head tracking
The game reads your hand, head and controller positions from the headset so you can ride, punch, swing and dodge. In single-player races this information is used on the headset only, while you play, and is not stored or sent anywhere.
Brawl (multiplayer)
Brawl lets two to four people race together: nearby on the same Wi-Fi, or online with friends. When you host or join a brawl, the headsets in it share:
- each rider's name, picked from the game's list of rider names (nobody can type their own);
- their jacket and helmet colours, bike and weapons;
- their riding: position on the road, speed, crashes, hits, kicks and finishing times;
- their head and hand positions, so each rider moves like the person riding;
- their rider token, so that a host who blocks a rider keeps that headset out of the brawl.
Nobody stores this information. The other headsets use it only while the brawl runs and discard it when it ends.
Nearby (same Wi-Fi)
Headsets on your local network see that a brawl exists, with the host's rider name and the number of riders. The brawl's information travels directly between the headsets over your local network. None of it goes to the internet, to SaneBits or to any third party.
Online with friends (optional, uses the internet)
Blacktop Outlaws connects to SaneBits only when you choose Host a brawl (which opens a room friends can join with a code) or Join with a code. Your headset then connects to SaneBits' brawl relay, a service we run on Google Cloud in Belgium (EU).
- The relay passes the brawl information listed above between the headsets in your brawl, and nowhere else. It does not read or keep it.
- The relay handles your device's IP address and the brawl code to make the connection and to limit abuse. Its rate-limit records hold only a scrambled (salted and hashed) form of the address, stay in the relay's memory only and are never written down. We have also excluded the relay from Google's request logs, so addresses are not logged there.
- We keep only anonymous service records, such as how many brawls ran and for how long. They contain no names, codes, positions or IP addresses.
- Google, which hosts the relay, processes connection data such as IP addresses on our behalf as our service provider.
- Online brawls are private: only people with your brawl's six-letter code can join. The host can close the brawl to new riders, and remove a rider or remove and block them. Anyone can hide another rider on their own headset, which shows them with a plain name and plain colours.
The game uses network permissions only for brawls: nearby play on your Wi-Fi and, if you choose it, online play through the relay.
The game does not use Meta's platform services (such as invitations, friends or leaderboards) and receives no information about your Meta account.
Children
Blacktop Outlaws does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. In a brawl, the other riders see the rider name you picked from the game's list, your colours and your movements, and nothing else about you.
